SECONDARY AIR PAD HEADBOX Mecfab can design and manufacture hydraulic and air-pad secondary headboxes for diverse papermaking applications. Secondary headboxes are generally used to provide a top layer of high-quality fiber relative to the bottom layer from the primary headbox. Paper machines operating at high speed and covering a limited range of basic weight require a hydraulic secondary headbox. Our secondary headboxes meet and exceed customers’ needs and requirements. HIGH SPEED HYDRAULIC HEADBOX Mecfab has unparalleled experience in designing and manufacturing hydraulic headboxes for diverse high-speed papermaking applications. The headbox is a critical part of the paper machine, and its impact on the overall quality of the papermaking process is of prime importance. The headbox makes sure the flow of stock across the width of the machine is homogeneous to ensure the paper sheet is free of streaks and flocs. Twin Wire
TWIN WIRE HYDRAULIC HEADBOX Mecfab can design and manufacture any type of twin-wire hydraulic headbox for diverse process applications (i.e. top formers, hybrid formers and gap formers). Twin-wire hydraulic headboxes are used in conjunction with twin-wire formers for high-speed and quality requirements. These combined units, compared to a conventional headbox/fourdrinier arrangement, provide greater dewatering capacity and help improve formation.
With Radial Distributor
HYDRAULIC HEADBOX WITH RADIAL DISTRIBUTOR The hydraulic headbox is designed to accept the stock delivered from the radial distributor. It transforms the pipeline flow into a uniform rectangular flow equal to the width of the paper machine and at a uniform depth and velocity. The radial distributor takes the stock from the fan pump and, owing to its symmetry and the use of a diffusion block along with air bleeds, eliminates the flow pulsations emanating from the fan pump and bleed off any entraped air in the stock. The stock is then fed to the headbox through smooth-bore Teflon© hoses reinforced with an EPDM rubber cover. These hoses are of equal length to ensure an even stock flow across the machine width.

HYDRAULIC HEADBOX WITH SUCTION BREAST ROLL The hydraulic headbox is designed to accept the stock delivered from the approach piping. It transforms the pipeline flow into a uniform rectangular flow equal to the width of the paper (or tissue) machine and at a uniform depth and velocity.

DILUTION HEADBOX WITH RADIAL DISTRIBUTOR The headbox is the heart of the paper machine. Its role in the overall quality of the papermaking process is important. The headbox makes sure the flow of stock across the width of the machine is homogeneous to ensure the paper sheet is free of streaks and flocs. Mecfab’s headboxes equipped with a radial distributor ensure optimum sheet quality through control of stock pressure and velocity across the machine width. The easy-to-adjust dilution control system allows local basis-weight adjustments. Mecfab’s headboxes are carefully designed and manufactured to meet and exceed customers ’needs, and to ensure ease of maintenance and operation.
Atmospheric
ATMOSPHERIC Headbox Atmospheric headboxes are used for low speed applications. Since the formation and uniformity of the final paper are dependent on the even dispersion of fibers and fillers, the design and operation of the headbox system are absolutely critical to a successful papermaking system. The Mecfab headboxes are designed to convey the stock delivered from the fan pump and transform the pipeline flow into a uniform rectangular flow equal in width to the paper machine and at uniform velocity in the machine direction. Our headboxes are designed to meet the following primary objectives: Spread stock evenly across the wire width of the machine Level-out cross currents and consistency variations Level out machine direction velocity gradients Create controlled turbulence to eliminate fiber flocking Discharge an even flow from the slice opening and adjustment for proper impingement on the wire at the correct location and angle.
